The Communications and Information Technology Commission (CITC) announced that it has issued an update to the quality of service (QoS) framework that applies on telecom services provided by licensed telecommunications service providers.   The update includes key performance indicators (KPIs) for measuring the quality of fixed and mobile telephony services, and quality of internet services provided to the end user. CITC Confirms that the updated framework will  enter into enforcement starting from the fourth quarter of this year 2018.

CITC explained that this updated framework aims to develop ICT Services and provide high quality of service to users, by stimulating competition among service providers,  and enhance transparency of users; by publishing KPIs of service providers in a comparative manner and ensuring a minimum acceptable level of quality of service. That is a key element in catalysing the digital transformation to achieve the goals of the National Transition Program 2020 and Vision 2030.

CITC also mentioned that the QoS framework has been issued on 13/10/1439H, after studying and evaluating international practices and participation of opinion through public consultation
