The Communications and Information Technology Commission (CITC) announced today the entry into force of the open access agreement between all six telecommunications companies. This agreement aims to expand choices for subscribers, as they will be able to choose their broadband service provider independently of fiber infrastructure ownership, which will increase broadband subscriptions and improve service quality.

The agreement enables the six telecommunications companies, which included Saudi Telecom Company (STC), Saudi Mobily Company (Mobily), Mobile Telecommunications Company Saudi Arabia (Zain), Integrated Telecom Company (ITC), Dawiyat Integrated, and Etihad Atheeb Telecom (GO) to utilize the existing infrastructure and provide broadband services for over 3.5 million households in Saudi Arabia.

The initiative aims to utilize the existing fiber-optic infrastructure in Saudi Arabia and encourage more investments, to expand choices for subscribers. As well as raising the cooperation level between companies and enhancing competition to improve quality of services provided.
