The Communications and Information Technology Commission (CITC) issued the document of regulations for the National Internet Exchange (SAIX). This document formulates regulations related to the internet exchange point in accordance with the latest international standards.
Through this document, CITC aims to provide a world-class neutral exchange point that can optimize the network performance for internet traffic in the Kingdom by reducing latency and improving localization of content and traffic. To achieve this mission, the document introduced a number of new regulations and guidelines for licensed ICT service providers in the Kingdom.
This document comes in line with CITC’s new strategy to drive innovation in regulation and help position Saudi Arabia as a global leader in the ICT sector, by having a high speed, reliable exchange point that can enable peering for all national and international networks.
