The Communications and Information Technology Commission (CITC) obligated licensed parcel delivery companies to provide e-payment methods throughout the service providers' branches and with all delivery representatives in an effort to develop postal services in Saudi Arabia and boost the quality of the services provided.

CITC revealed that it began coordinating with the parcel delivery companies in last April, to create the best conditions for applying this obligation and solve any obstacles that may accrue. CITC also implemented this obligation gradually, starting from providing all different e-payment methods throughout the service providers' branches from the 5th of July 2020. Subsequently, the stage of providing the e-payment methods to the delivery representatives will start from the 23th of July 2020.

Moreover, the Commission stated that this step came as a part of a series of initiatives to develop the postal sector and enhance the digital transformation to regulate and facilitate financial transactions between the beneficiary and the service provider, as well as saving the beneficiary's rights by documenting the details of the transactions for reference when needed.
