The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by the Director General of International Affairs at the Communications and Information Technology Commission, Eng. Mansour ​​​bin Saleh Al-Qurashi, chaired the regional preparatory meeting for the World Telecommunication Development Conference 2021 (WTDC-21). In the presence of the Director of the Telecommunication Development Bureau of the International Telecommunication Union, Mrs. Doreen Bogdan Martin, and more than (300) representatives from ITU Member States, the private sector, and academia from different countries of the wo​rld.​

The preparatory meeting aims to promote discussions among the six EU regions (Arab States, Americas, Africa, Asia, Indian Ocean, Commonwealth countries, and Europe), identify common positions, and agree on key issues prior to the conference.​

During the meeting, the working groups of the Telecommunication Development Advisory Group (TDAG) concerned with preparing for the WTDC-21, reviewed priorities, strategies, operations and financial matters of the ITU.​

The regional meetings seek to set priorities, introduce initiatives, define common positions and agree on major issues before participating in the conference scheduled for the end of the year 2021.
