The Communications and Information Technology Commission (CITC) announced the launch of the "Qualifying Category" track for cloud computing service providers in the Kingdom to enable and qualify enterprises wishing to provide their services in the sector.

The qualifying category track allows the applicants to register and start providing services following the regulatory framework for cloud computing, provided that the requirements of one of the three basic categories are fulfilled within a period not exceeding one year starting from the date of joining approval to this track.

The authority indicated that the qualifying category enables service providers to provide cloud computing services to all private sector establishments and individuals, with the exception of the financial sector and government agencies in the Kingdom.

The authority indicated that this step is an extension of its efforts to enhance competitiveness and attract investment in Saudi Arabia's cloud computing services sector. The authority has called on local and international establishments interested in the cloud services market to visit its website and view the conditions for joining and registering in the "qualifying category" track.
